ENCALS is committed to organizing a meeting that is responsible, inclusive, and environmentally conscious. To achieve this, we have developed a sustainability plan aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The actions implemented during the congress contribute particularly to the following goals:

SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being

As a healthcare-focused congress, promoting health and well-being is at the core of our mission. During the event, we will organize a blood donation campaign in collaboration with the Spanish Red Cross, encouraging participants to contribute directly to saving lives and supporting healthcare systems.

SDG 5: Gender Equality

We promote equal opportunities and balanced representation within the scientific and professional community, encouraging equitable participation in committees, faculty, and congress activities.

SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth

The congress supports knowledge exchange and responsible economic development by collaborating with local providers and promoting ethical and sustainable working practices.

SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities

We strive to ensure an accessible and inclusive congress, facilitating participation from professionals of diverse backgrounds and promoting diversity within the scientific community.

SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production

Measures are implemented to reduce the environmental impact of the event, including the digitalization of materials, reduction of printed resources, and collaboration with providers committed to sustainable practices.

SDG 13: Climate Action

We adopt initiatives aimed at minimizing the environmental footprint of the congress, encouraging sustainable mobility, responsible waste management, and efficient use of resources.

Our commitment

The congress sustainability plan includes more than 50 specific actions designed to reduce the environmental impact of the event while maximizing its positive social impact. These measures include:

  • digitalization of congress materials and the scientific program
  • reduction of printed materials
  • selection of responsible suppliers
  • promotion of equality and diversity
  • sustainable resource and waste management

Through these initiatives, our goal is to actively contribute to a more sustainable and responsible model for scientific congresses, aligned with the principles of the United Nations 2030 Agenda.
